Help & FAQ
A few common questions, answered.
How do I log in and get to My Fiction Friend?
My Fiction Friend lives online at your web address — just open it in any browser and log in with your email and password. Nothing to download or install. Tip: bookmark the link so it's one click away.
I forgot my password.
No problem — click "Forgot password?" on the login screen. You'll get an email with a link to set a new one, and you'll be back in within a minute. All your work will be exactly where you left it.
I didn't get the password reset email.
First, check your spam or junk folder — it sometimes lands there. Also make sure you're using the same email you signed up with. If it still hasn't arrived after a few minutes, email us at hello@myfictionfriend.com and we'll help.
I paid but it's asking me to pay again, or I can't log in.
This is almost always because two different emails got used — one to pay and one to log in. Try logging in with the email address you used when you paid. If you're still stuck, email hello@myfictionfriend.com with the email you paid with and we'll sort it out quickly.
Where is my writing saved? Could I lose it?
Everything saves automatically as you type, safely tied to your account. You can close it, come back days later, and it's all still there — your manuscript, your scenes, and your characters, kept safe and private to you.
How do I start a new novel?
From your Bookshelf, choose to start a new novel. Your first is included; each one after that is a one-time $27. Starting a new novel never affects the ones you've already written — every finished book stays safe on your shelf, and you can reopen and edit it any time.
How do the coaches work?
Open the coach that fits where you are, tell it what's going on in your own words, and it responds with guidance and questions — never by writing your story for you. Your conversation stays there so you can talk it through, and when you start a new one, the old chat is tucked away neatly so you can look back later.
Can I change how My Fiction Friend looks?
Yes — tap the colour dots in the top corner any time to switch the mood of your writing space: warm parchment for a bright scene, deep plum for a dark one, calm sage, or the classic midnight. Your choice is remembered, and you can change it whenever you like, even between chapters.
How do I get my finished novel out of My Fiction Friend?
You can download your whole manuscript as a text file any time, so you always have your own copy to keep, print, or take wherever you're publishing.
How do I know when I've finished?
As you draft each scene, you tick it off. When every scene is done, My Fiction Friend celebrates with you — because you've written a novel. From there, you can leave a note about your experience, or start your next book whenever you're ready.
I need help with something else.
We're happy to help — email us at hello@myfictionfriend.com and we'll get back to you.
