My Fiction Friend — Privacy Policy

Your trust matters to us, and so does your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we look after it. We keep it as plain and honest as we can.
What we collect:
- Account details: your name and email address when you sign up.
- Your writing: the novels, premises, characters, scenes, and coach conversations you create in My Fiction Friend. This is saved so you can come back to it any time.
- Payment information: when you buy, our payment provider Stripe collects your payment details. We don't see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that securely.
- Basic usage information: general information about how the service is used, which helps us keep it working and improve it.
How we use your information: We use it to run the service, save and display your work to you, process your payments, provide support when you need it, and improve the product. We don't sell your information to anyone.
AI coaching and the services we rely on: To provide the coaching, when you type something to a coach, that text is securely sent to a trusted third-party AI provider so it can generate a helpful response. That provider processes your text only to return that response, under its own strict privacy and security terms, and does not use your writing to train its models. To run the service we also rely on Stripe (payments) and our hosting platform. These trusted providers process information only as needed to deliver the service, under their own privacy and security practices. Your writing remains yours.
How we protect your information: Your work is private to your account — no other user can see it. The service runs over a secure (encrypted) connection, and we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
Sharing: We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with the service providers above who help us run My Fiction Friend, or where we're required to by law.
Your choices and rights: You can access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal information — just email us at hello@myfictionfriend.com and we'll help. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act.
Cookies: We use only the basic cookies needed to keep you logged in and everything working.
Keeping your information: We keep your account and your writing for as long as your account is active, so your work is always there for you. If you close your account, you can ask us to delete your information.
Children: My Fiction Friend isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under the age required to hold an account in their location.
Changes to this policy: We may update this policy from time to time, and the current version will always be available within My Fiction Friend.
