My Fiction Friend — Terms of Service

Effective date: July 2026. If you have questions about anything here, email us at hello@myfictionfriend.com.

Welcome to My Fiction Friend. These terms explain how My Fiction Friend works, and what you can expect from us — and us from you. By creating an account or using it, you're agreeing to them, so please have a read.

Who we are: My Fiction Friend ("we", "us", "our") is a guided novel-writing program you use online in your browser. You can reach us any time at hello@myfictionfriend.com.

What you get: When you buy the program, you get lifetime access to My Fiction Friend, including your first novel. You get a writing space and four AI writing coaches that help you plan, get unstuck, and finish your draft. Importantly: the coaches guide you — they ask questions, offer suggestions, and help you find your way — but they never write your novel for you. Every word of your book is written by you.

Your account: You'll create an account with your email and a password. Please keep your login details safe and don't share your account, as you're responsible for what happens under it. Give us accurate information when you sign up so we can help you if you ever need it.

Pricing and payments: The program is a one-time payment of $47 (US dollars), which includes your first novel — there is no subscription and no recurring charge. If you choose to write additional novels later, each one is a separate one-time payment of $27. You'll always see the price clearly before you pay, and you'll only ever be charged when you choose to buy. Payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.

Your writing belongs to you: Everything you write in My Fiction Friend is yours. We don't claim any ownership of your novels, characters, or ideas, and you're free to publish or use your work however you like. You're responsible for the content you create, and you agree not to use it to produce anything unlawful. To run the service, you give us only the limited permission we technically need — to store your work so you can access it, and to send the text you type to a coach to our AI provider so it can generate a helpful reply (see our Privacy Policy for more).

Using My Fiction Friend fairly: Please use My Fiction Friend as intended. Don't try to break, hack, overload, or misuse it, don't attempt to access other people's accounts or content, and don't use it to break the law or infringe anyone's rights. We may suspend accounts that do.

About the coaching: Our coaches offer creative writing guidance, not professional, legal, medical, or other expert advice. Like all AI, they can occasionally be wrong, repetitive, or off-base — treat their suggestions as a helpful nudge, and remember you're the author making every decision.

Availability and changes: We work hard to keep the service running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available without interruption. "Lifetime access" means access for as long as we operate the service. We may improve, update, or change features over time to make the product better.

Refunds: Our refund terms are set out in our Refund Policy, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always apply.

Our responsibility: We provide the service with genuine care, but "as is" — to the extent the law allows, we can't guarantee it will be perfect or uninterrupted, and our liability is limited to what's permitted by law. Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which always take priority.

Changes to these terms: We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know, and the current version will always be available within My Fiction Friend.

Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
